Usability guidelines

Usability and user interface guidelines are very useful for any company developing or maintaining products or services. Guidelines are a powerful every day design tool for increasing the quality of both:

• the user interfaces and
• the way they are developed

The guidelines ensure consistency and good user experience throughout the product or service variety. They make the actual design work much faster and more cost-efficient as they eliminate the need to do overlapping, repetitive work in every project.

Usability and user interface guidelines are based on the existing knowledge about good usability and general guidelines and they are customized to specific needs of the product portfolio and the development process of the company. Usability evaluations or other methods may be used in requirements gathering.
